November Club Tourny held on Bull Shoals

What a great club turn out for our November tourny on Bull Shoals.  We launched out of Buck Creek at 8am with a 3pm weigh-in.  With the water up so high and the lake turning over it was tough bite out there, but there  were several that still found some nice fish.

Jerry Pagan took the win and Eddie Wolfe caught the big bass of the day; a 5.87 smallie.  Many people found their fish in deeper water from 20-40 feet and a select few found fish up shallow.

Next month's club tournament is a scramble, with lakes being boaters choice.  Blast off will be at 7am and weigh-in at 3pm.  Results will need to be turned in to Wendell by the next meeting.

October Club Tourny was held on Table Rock Today (Oct 24)

We had a good club turn out today for the October club tournament held on Table Rock today.  Blast off happened at 8am from the State Park boat ramp.  It was a pretty tough bite today due to the cold weather and the fast drop in water levels over the past few days.  Those that found fish did so in many different methods today, some found fish out deep with a jig while others found them shallow with spinner baits and crank baits.

Gary Hazel took the win today with a limit weighing in at 11.20 pounds, right behind him was Bill Van Kirk bringing in 5 fish that weighed 11.13 pounds.  Eric Van Kirk brought in the big fish of the tournament with a 20-1/4" smallie weighing 4.77 pounds.

Next month's club tournament is on Bull Shoals with blast off at 7am from the Buck Creek boat ramp.

August Club Tourny Night Scramble!!

The August club tourny is the annual over night scramble.  Due to some score sheets not making it back in before the club meeting tonight, official results won't be available until next months meeting.  However, we do know that Jerry "Moon Man" Pagan took the big bass honors in the night scramble with his 4.56lber.

Zebra Mussels Hit Home
The same day, the Missouri Department of Conservation told the AGFC that zebra mussels had been collected from Lake Taneycomo, which drains into Bull Shoals.

The AGFC hasn’t found other zebra mussels in the lake. Zebra mussels cause damage by forming thick mats that clog municipal water, industrial and power-plant inlets. Masses of mussels can sink boats in marina stalls. They have wiped out native mussels in some infested waters.

Zebra mussels were known in the Mississippi, Arkansas and lower White rivers of Arkansas, but had not been collected in Arkansas’s mountain reservoirs.

To prevent the spread of zebra mussels, boaters should wash boat hulls, trailers and live wells with either a 10 percent bleach solution or high-pressure hot water. Live wells and bait buckets with Bull Shoals water should be dumped before they leave the lake.

Learn more about zebra mussels at http://mdc.mo.gov/nathis/exotic/zebra.

July Club Tourny out of Theodosia a "Tuff One"

The July tourny out of Theodosia was a "tuff day of fishing" for many of the club members that participated.  The 6am start had everyone up and out of the house VERY early Sunday morning, with 11 boats and 22 members showing up for the tournament.

Denny Bissell took the win with over 15lbs and Chuck Nofsinger up there in 2nd with over 13lbs I believe.  I will post the complete details as soon as I get them.

10th Annual Do Fishing Not Drugs Tournament

What a beautiful day Saturday May 9th was to enjoy fishing and about 100 folks did just that. The Forsyth Bass Club and the Lake Taneycomo Elks Lodge hosted local children at Jerry Pagan’s pond. Children and parents began arriving at about 8:30 to pick up fishing poles and bait to begin catching fish. There were plenty to catch thanks to the Missouri Department of Conversation that had stocked the pond with lots of catfish and perch. Local conservation agent Buckie Nofsinger was also there to help out. For those that caught their first fish pictures were taken and application will be made to the conservation department for awards. Among the many fish caught were a  21 ½ inch catfish by Joshua Shockey and a 17 inch bass by Brandan Koller. At 11:30 the dogs, burgers and all the fixings prepared by Lodge members were ready but many of the children weren’t ready to eat so their parents had to get their meal and take it to them. They did stop fishing for the prizes! After the area around the pond was cleaned up they lined up for the prizes. They were all reminded of the theme of the tournament and as always the offer was made by the Elks and the Bass Club for them to give us a call if they ever think about doing drugs and we will go fishin!! Drawings for $50 bonds from US Bank were won by Maycee Lumley and Andrew Brown, from First Community Bank Makayla Schmitt and Devon Marsh, from Branson Bank Allyssa George and Cole Flood. Thanks to those folks from all of us.Then each child received a trophy along with bags of information from the Conservation Department and literature about just saying no to drugs from the Elks Lodge. Thanks to Jerry Pagan for the use of his pond, Save A Lot Grocery for potato chips and White River Electric for the trophies.Denny Bissell546-5582

 Fishing Etiquette......  a few pointers

New to fishing in tournaments?  Moving up to a regional or pro circuits?  Maybe just curious what is considered acceptable when fishing as a co-angler?

Most of us here are not pro's so some of the information may not be set in stone, but its good information to know anyhow.

Our club has set some guidelines for our Boater and Non-boater members.  Click here to see these guidelines

Here is a link to the FLW website where you can read several articles on the subject of being a co-angler.....  http://www.flwoutdoors.com/article.cfm?id=137284

December Scramble Results

The December "Scramble" has been held and the results are in!!!!  We had an incredible turn out for a club tournament in December with 23 of the 26 active members coming out to participate.  Club By-laws state that our December tournament is a "scramble" meaning that after being paired up, our teams can fish any lake and and from any launch site that they choose. Bull Shoals seemed to be the lake that most of the teams fished and for good reason; Bull Shoals has been an incredible fishery for the past 6 to 8 weeks.

Top finishers were Gerry Pagan in first place with 16.xx pounds; Gerry and his partner fished Bull Shoals, launching from at "K" Dock.  Second place went to Mike Merrill with 14.xx pounds; Mike and his partner also fished Bull Shoals and launched out of xxxxxx.  Third place went to Bill Van Kirk with 13.56 pounds; Bill and his partner fished Bull Shoals launching out of Bright Elbow.  The "Big Bass" award was won by Denny Bissell with his 19 1/4 4.06 pound small mouth bass. Rounding out the top 10 were xxxxx in fourth, Gary Hazell in fifth, xxxxx in sixth, xxxxx in seventh, xxxxx in eighth, xxxxx in ninth and xxxxx in tenth.

Congratulations to all of our members
